The good news: Bryan Singer is set to produce and direct a Battlestar Galactica movie!
The bad news: The movie will be based on the original show and it won’t feature any of the GOOD parts Ron Moore created!
Glen Larson is also going to produce, and as he famously hated on the reimagined series, I think we can all count on lots of Star Wars ripoffs and Gold Lamé capes. Although just for laughs I’d love it if they brought back the old school robots. With all the technological advances that have been made since 1978, it would be hilarious to use dudes in shiny costumes.
And in other BSG news, Amazon has Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series on sale for $175! It’s finally out!
DNW. I heard it’d be about the fleet led by Boxey fighting a half-Cyborg Apollo. I wish I were kidding.
Also, the Complete Series DVD is a bit FTL because it’s “complete” but doesn’t have The Face of the Enemy webisodes or The Plan!

I’m actually glad it will take a different direction. The RDM series was brilliant, but that story has been told and is finished. If Singer’s movie followed the same story line, it would basically be like “Razor” where we sit down for a couple hours and see a cool movie, but it’s not exactly groundbreaking. Now we can speculate and look forward to what Singer will do with it, and get to see the BSG story from a whole new perspective. I think the bad new cancels out the good news. I don’t see how this is necessary.
I waited to watch this show at all until I could watch it in it’s entirety. I got the Blu-Ray boxset in the mail yesterday, and it’s pretty fucking good so far. Best part though, was that the box set came with a Cylon action figure built into it.
Not sure this is necessary either, but I could look forward to Starbuck being the proper sex again. :o)
I do hope that they still wear those brown and blue velour/fauxsuede flight suits too. Sadly, Jonathan Harris won’t be voicing Lucifer though. :-(
