In case you don’t feel like watching the whole video, this is what we learned…
1. The Man in Black’s name was Samuel, which means Man of God.
2. The person in the cabin that said “Help me” to Locke was the MIB in Christian Shephard’s form.
3. We will find out what happened to Walt on the DVD.
4. Jin was the Kwon on the cave ceiling (which I figured since Sun was a mother, which means she would have been crossed off)
5. The 108 in the Lighthouse was not important – that scene was merely to get Jack to the Lighthouse, and the number 108 held significance for the characters, so it got them to go.
6. The shot of the plane over the credits at the end was just B-roll of the original crash from Season 1 (I think it was just a little homage to the beach and the crash – I’ve heard some places didn’t see that image, which makes me think I’m right about this one.)
7. The Protector of the Island can change the weather, sometimes unconsciously, hence why Jack and Smokey fighting on the cliff was stormy, but as soon as he was gone, it was sunny again.
Dumb question but how do I watch the vid? I get to the said about the wedding but thats it. Is it because im on my phone?
I thought the plane shown at the end was the Ajira plane that Frank, Miles, Richard, Kate, Claire, and Sawyer took off on, showing that finally everyone died on the island (besides Ben, Hurley and Desmond)
wh-wh-WHAT?! I heard that the Walt stuff will be on the Blu-Ray… I hope DVD , too. And Smokey’s real name? Not bad, actually. Lots of interesting Biblical connotations.
Being as the one question that’s most been eating away at me is “What is the Man in Black’s real name?”, finding it out would excite me extremely…however, I have a hard time believing that Samuel is his real name. That was the name given for his casting call, and pretty much every casting call name I’ve seen hasn’t turned out to be the character’s real name.
For example, the casting call name for young Widmore was “Nigel” and middle-aged Widmore was “Graham.” Daniel’s casting call name was “Russell” and the casting call name for both the teenage and middle-aged Eloise was “Sophie.” Jacob’s casting call name was “Jason.” That leads me to believe that “Samuel” might not possibly be Smokey’s real name… I’m not sure. Maybe it is. However, unless I hear it from an extremely reliable source like Darlton, I probably still won’t fully believe it (as much as I would love to). ^^;; Good to know we’ll find out about Walt on the DVD though and the other stuff. :)
Thanks for this!
@Desmondismyconstant – the wreckage footage was an homage. The plane flying overhead was indeed piloted by Chesty aka LaPenis aka LaPidus
@Desmondismyconstant Yes, that was the original wreckage. The plane Frank was flying safely made it home!
I don’t really care what Smokey’s name is, but I do think the name Samuel is fitting somehow.
Maybe Walt was originally intended to be Jacob’s successor, since it was sort of implied in Season One that he had some sort of subconscious weather control (it looked like he made it stop raining when Michael promised he’d look for Vincent as soon as it stopped pouring).
hey there lady! In the future (not for Lost posts, of course, but for other things), you might maybe want to see if there’s a way you can get your rss feed posts to cut sooner. Someone commented on the post on lj that this spoiled them and I know you would never do something like that intentionally… :\ Thought I should let you know.
Also: Yay Samuel. I approve of this name.

Interesting on that 2nd vid (with the “answers”) – at the end where they are discussing the numbers and their possible meaning. Yes, the numbers equated to the candidates…but it was also (for example) linked to the whole island is a cork to keep evil in thing… best example is why, when Hurley won the lottery with the numbers originally…that a whole bunch of bad stuff happened because of them. houses burning, people dying, etc, etc. Everything that money touched (as a result of “the numbers) ended up bad…horrible consequences. This was just a taste of what would happen if the “evil” got loose in the world. Interesting.
FWIW, A better interpretation of “Samuel” would be “Heard by God”. See 1 Samuel 1:20 “So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel,[e]saying, “Because I have asked for him from the LORD.†(NKJV)
Of course, the joke is that the name is a idiophone for “smoke”, “smoke monster” etc.
How soon did the authors know how the show would end? Did they find out when they started compiling the book, or did they have to wait like the rest of us?
If only more than 29 people could read about this.
Number 7 is SO cool :D
