E! Online is reporting that a MAJOR character death is coming this season. This is in addition to earlier internet rumors that a less major character would be leaving the show.

Here’s what I can tell you about this death:
• A current series regular is getting killed before the end of Season 5.
• The character who will die is someone who is much-loved by many of you fans.
• This is a real leaving-the-show death, à la Shannon or Charlie, not a quick-fix time-travel death like Jeremy Bentham/John Locke.
• The character getting killed off is NOT Evie’s character Kate Austen.
That’s right, gang, there is at least one person we know it ISN’T. Despite the report earlier this month that Evangeline Lilly was looking to move on, Kate is not the character getting the axe.
The insider does claim the news caught the actor by surprise.
“Unfortunately, [he or she] found out after the script treatments were sent out to some of the crew on the set,†a source tells Dos Santos. “So it wasn’t the best timing.â€
“Lost†is no stranger to loss, and as Charlotte reminded us during her own demise, “This place is death!â€
I still haven’t fully recovered from Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) dying and the disappearance of Claire (Emilie de Ravin), but it looks like the Kill List is growing whether we like it or not.
So who do you think it will be? I’m banking on it being Juliet – she’s contributing very little to the overall plot these days, apart from being the metaphorical cockblock between Sawyer and Kate, amiright?
If it’s Desmond, Ben, Sayid, or Hurley, I’m going to riot. RIOT, I SAY! They’d never be stupid enough to kill Sawyer, but the others…I fear for them.

I call Sayid. Kate and Juliet are safe due to lack of females. Sawyer is safe because he is bomb! Jack has to die in the final episode, so he is good. Hurley is the audience, so he’s safe. Desmond and Daniel are needed for this time-travel thing. Miles is too new. Ben and Locke are too important. I would say a Kwon, but it would have to be Jin and if they did that right after reuniting them that would be evil.
Whenever they do an Important Character Death of the Season, it’s a character that’s enough on the periphery to not make much of a difference to the plot but still someone beloved enough by the fans to make it dramatic. I’m… gonna have to say Jin. It’d be the biggest gutpunch, I think, since he’s a new father and we thought we lost him once already.
By the way – on the LJ syndication account there’s no cut before you go on to talk about the spoiler. >_> This makes it through, for me anyway –

I think it will be Miles or Daniel. Miles has never had much to contribute to the storyline. Daniel seems to have disappeared in 1974 Dharmaville.
It is, in fact… Juliet.
About 7 weeks ago, they showed a preview/trailer that had the smoke monster blasting thru a group of islanders like a lion thru a nursery full of cute baby gazelles. There was a half second shot of Juliet laying in the mud, bleeding from the eyes, ears, nose (NOT the cool time-traveling bleeding) – with the life evaporating from her. Makes sense – give Sawyer something good? Rip it from him… with extreme prejudice.

If they kill off Micheal Emerson’s character (ben), I’m bloody well not watching LOST anymore. Seriously.
It will probably be Daniel. I like the character, but I think his contribution to the story is mostly done. I don’t care for Miles but I think there is more to say about his whole ghost-thing. I don’t think Sawyer, Jack or Kate will ever die, and it had better not be Ben. He’s the best character on the show!
Darlton loves their quadrangle-o-lurve so much, so I don’t worry about Jack, Kate, Sawyer, or Juliet at all.

I’m pretty sure Ben dies. The show’s producers announced shortly after the end of season 4 that Ben would become some sort of a hero in the following season. If they are still going with that, then Benry is too much of a motherfucker already to become a hero in any way other than sacrifice. Let there be blood!

Out of those, I wouldn’t exactly say Miles and Daniel are “much-loved by many” fans.
I don’t think it’s Jin…that plot line with him and Sun seems like it’s about to get seriously more complicated (youtube Namaste sneak peaks).

Sayid. Naveen Andrews is being dropped from the main cast credits at about the 75% mark of the season.
As with other characters, recurring appearances will bump him in with the main cast in credits.
My bet is on Daniel, I never loved him that much (sorry guys). Sawyer is safe, I read it long time ago that they won’t resolve triangle until the very end. And they’ll be crazy if they killed Ben right now.
Thank Jacob my Sayid is safe, this show just wouldn’t be the same without his feet of doom.

I really don’t think it’s Hurley – at least it better not be, but Jorge’s girlfriend posted on her blog that she’s moving to London…could he have another job, or is it maybe just a summer gig before they start filming next season? As far as I know, they’re still happily together, so I can’t imagine she’d move without him.
did anyone think of Penny she not a major character but there has been a set report with her in the hospital so i don’t know.
I wish it were Jack. I wish I hadn’t read that Matthew Fox knows how it ends, because now I know, deep down, that he’s going to survive, and that makes me sad. KILL KILL KILL!

Since Darlton has demonstrated they can’t write characters consistently, they have destroyed Kate. By the way, it is the writers’ fault that Kate is the way she is, people. And since they continually demonstrate that they think with their small brains, they will pander to the masses, who accept anything as long as there is sex and stuff they are too idiotic to understand (sorry, masses, look at popular culture) that seems intelligent.
Killing Jack would be an unexpected move, and would eliminate a negative influence on the sadly misled majority who believe that men are supposed to treat people (especially women) like that. In addition, eliminating Jack’s character would free the other characters to take the roles they should have taken from the beginning, and ultimately lead to a more satisfying ending (if done properly, of course).
My bet’s on Sayid, Sawyer, or Ben and I’m already starting to elimnate Sawyer. I’m almost postive it’s Ben after watching the promo for next weeks episode. He’s fucked over so many people, there’s no way old smoky can forgive him. I will be so pissed if I’m right though, he’s one of the most interesting characters on the show.
I think Fell might be right about Jin…who would care if Miles or Daniel died?? Really, I don’t think I would even care about Juliet. But Jin, that would be sad.
