This made my list because Hurley, as usual, was saying what we were all thinking.

9. Catch a Falling Star by Perry Como, first mentioned in “Raised by Another”

It was super cute that Claire wanted the soon-to-be-parents of Aaron to sing him “Catch a Falling Star,” but it was super creepy that the song played on Ethan’s weird Oceanic airplane mobile.

8. La Mer by Charles Trenet, heard in “Whatever the Case May Be”

So Danielle’s maps turned out to be useless and Shannon’s French kind of stunk. In my mind it totally embodies the Dharma Initiative’s hippy dippy way of seeing the world. (Never mind that it was Roger Linus’s murder soundtrack.)

1. Make Your Own Kind of Music by Mama Cass, first heard in “Man of Science, Man of Faith”

A record player next to a lava lamp starts (must be a flashback!), a man hits some buttons on an old ass computer (flashback!), he makes some breakfast, gets a bit of exercise on an old ass bike (flashback!), he gets out his Dharma Initiative vaccinate to inject himself, the INTRUDER ALERT alarm goes crazy…wait, WHAT!?

The Season 2 opener was awesome because it totally hoodwinked us in that way Lost does. I love that Desmond blared this song to discombobulate Jack when he came looking for Locke and Kate, and I love that he heard it during his little time traveling episode in “Flashes Before Your Eyes.” Love it.

Runners Up:

Hurley’s Walkman batteries running out during Damien Rice’s Delicate: What good are desert island albums if you can’t actually listen to them?

Charlie’s “Living is easy with eyes closed” Strawberry Fields Forever tattoo: Awesome.
